The Best of Pornographicus

First of all, thanks to vice regal (viceking) for bringing this tool to my attention in his best of viceking post.

There’s a neat little tool out there put out by Noodles and Beef called best of tumblr. It will scan through the entire history of a Tumblr blog and show the posts from each month that received the most Notes. While it does try to be accurate by looking only at things which the author has posted him or herself, it can be deceived if one put a Reblog on a post from somebody that has since deleted the account. Still, it’s a pretty cool way to easily look back at the posts that received the most attention.

Having seen my own results now, I have to repeat something I said here long ago…how I find it so strange when I post a picture that I’m sure everybody will go nuts over that then gets less than ten Notes, then something I think only a few in my audience will like gets Reblogs and Likes all over the place. I’m certainly not complaining…after all, the great thing about Tumblr is how the audience decides what becomes popular. Frankly, I’m glad to have anybody enjoy what I put up so everything single Like and Reblog is a wonderful bonus for which I am always extremely grateful. However, I must say I am still shocked that my third-most Noted post is of a mere butt pic from a 1966 issue of Playboy that I would have thought most everybody would have already seen and been tired of by now (I posted it only to illustrate one of my personal stories).

Anyway…since I ran this thing, here’s what I found. I’m going to do mine a little differently from vice regal and feature my most popular posts of all time (well, at least the time since I have been on Tumblr as The Blog of Pornographicus is actually much older). Clicking on the pictures will open up the original post in a new browser tab. Enjoy!
